A Historical Ghostly Building

In 1897 this building was constructed as a nine room inn. The Union Pacific Railroad Company purchased the building in 1920 and turned it into a restaurant expressly for tourists riding buses through the surrounding national parks. Managed by the Utah Parks Company, the restaurant soon became well known and catered to an entourage of governors and statesmen including Franklin D. Roosevelt and President Warren G. Harding.

In 1923, a laundry facility was added to the building to provide services for the many lodges located throughout the parks. The restaurant was forced to close in 1942 due to gas rationing and limited travel caused by WWII. The laundry was kept open until 1973. Remnants of this laundry are still seen today in the outbuildings located behind the restaurant.

In 1990 the building was transformed into a Chinese restaurant and continues its tradition of catering to parks visitors from around the world. It can accommodate four busloads of tourists at one seating by utilizing the unique balcony that overlooks the dining room.

The building contains a ghostly past. A friendly ghost named O'Toole inhabits the facility and still walks the grounds to this day. No one knows much about him or how he got his name, but if he dislikes something, he'll do harmless behavior, such as opening and swinging doors, jiggling trash cans, or rearranging wall paintings. Throughout the years many of the chefs that have lived in the apartment located above the Inn, claimed that they have talked to him as well.

Please, dine with us and enjoy our authentic Chinese cuisine prepared by world class chefs.
